Sunday 9th April saw the inaugural All-stars event at Hart’s Bakery. This was a chance for the bakery staff to run their own day and showcase some of their other talents. With myself and one of our bakers having volunteered with Jam Plan for a few weeks we had plenty of preserves to sell. I also made some crackers (from unsold loaves from the bakery) and glazed some pottery bowls (abandoned at a local pottery school) – all very much in the ethos of Jam Plan!
There was a fantastic response from people at the event and we raised £330. Lots of interest in the project and someone enquired about using Jam Plan preserves for their wedding which sounded like a lovely idea. Most popular products were the banana ketchup (people often unsure at first but sold once they had tried it!) and Bristol Pickle.
The money raised has been donated to Refugee Women of Bristol. Based in Easton they are helping to support and integrate refugee and asylum seekers.
